FamilySearch Weekly

Steve Cottrell publishes "The FamilySearch Weekly". It has content about and from FamilySearch that has been shared on the internet over the last 7 days. Go to this link: http://paper.li/cottrells/1305707584 and look at the variety of articles. Notice the tabs across the top....they each take you to more articles. At the top right you can click "subscribe" and receive a notice by email each week when the paper is published. This is a quick way to become informed about genealogy-related news. If you don't have time to read the paper, you can always "DELETE".

Genealogy Boot Camp

Genealogy Boot Camp is a video presentation that introduces cutting edge tools that will help genealogists preserve their family histories. The presenter, Thomas Jay Kemp, MLS, discusses tools such as Google Books, GenealogyBank, Scribd.com and others. The video is 27 minutes in length and is quite interesting. Take a look!

We Can Only Teach What We Know

As Consultants in the Canon City Family History Center, we are committed to helping others learn how to research their family histories. We can only function as effective Consultants if we know how to effectively do that research ourselves. We've created this blog as a platform to provide our Consultants (and others who are interested) with the most current resources, news and techniques that will assist us in being successful researchers.

So that you can be notified when new information is added to this blog, please "Subscribe by Email" or "Subscribe to: Posts or Comments" of this blog on the sidebar at the right. If you have information that can be added to the blog, please send it by email to canoncityfamilyhistorycenter@gmail.com.

Check out the tabs across the top for research and resource links, videos, photos, genealogy blog listings, and other fun stuff. As time goes by those pages will become more complete, so check back often.
I encourage you to bookmark this blog or put a link to it on your desktop and use it regularly. I'll be posting lots of good things that I find since I subscribe to genealogy/family history newsletters, blogs, facebook pages, professional genealogists on facebook and attend conferences.

You're also invited to share your interesting research stories. We all have them...and often have nobody to share them with (unless we're lucky enough to have family members who actually want to hear them). Email them to me at the address I put in the second paragraph.

I welcome your comments and suggestions and really hope to make this a fun and worthwhile destination for genealogy activity!
